manually at IRS office or online), we made this process quite quick and easy. At this website, you can follow simple steps to complete and submit
your VIN correction. Please do not forget to download and use the new schedule 1 (with VIN corrected)
to avoid any inconvenience from the DMV or for future use.
Increase in Taxable Gross Weight of Vehicle(s)
In case of increase in taxable gross weight of your vehicle, you have to pay applicable tax amount to the IRS.
Our system will automatically calculate due amount based on the month weight increased and the weight of the vehicle after increase.
The deadline to file amendment is on or before the last day of the following month from the
month of gross weight has increased within the same tax period. For instance, if gross weight increase in August,
the last day to file amendment to avoid any penalty or late filing charge for that is on or before September 30th.
Suspended Vehicle Exceeds Mileage Limit
Once a suspended vehicle exceeds the mileage use limit, the tax becomes due. Mileage use limit means the use of a vehicle on public highways 5,000 miles or less (7,500 miles or less for agricultural vehicles). The mileage use limit applies to the total mileage a vehicle is used during a period, regardless of the number of owners.
Our system will automatically figure the tax based on the month the vehicle was first used in the period.
File the amended Form 2290 by the last day of the month following the month in which the mileage use limit was exceeded.
